pdf exchange viewer menu only lasts 0.5 sec
Just d/l'ed and installed tracker PDF exchange viewer a couple of days ago.
I would give you a version number but I can't click about.
if I right click on a page, a menu appears, but then disappears a half sec later. generally i am not fast enough to select anything, let alone read it.
Similarly if I right click on something like preferences in the control set at the top of the page, it appears, and the disappears almost immediately.
HELP!
Win7 Home Premium
Firefox 3.6 (so far, until I discovered this problem, I felt it was working beautifully with FF)
tia!!!

Hi, Kris.
Unfortunately, but we cannot reproduce this strange behavior.
You can help us for fix of this trouble.
1. For this, please, replace manually the PDFXCview.exe file by file with the same name from the attached archive(create backup before).
The full path to this file can like to: C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF Viewer\PDFXCview.exe.
The attached archive contains the special technical build for debugging of this trouble.
2. After this please enable debug-mode by EnableDebug.reg file in the attachment.
3. Try to reproduce this trouble in FF and in our standalone application.
4. Look to your disk C: and collect and archive the two files SysEvents.log and SysEventsAx.log.
Send to us this archive with these files for investigating.
4.1(optional). Note: if you don't find these files on disk C:(your system has prohibited files creation for our application) then please run the Dbgview.exe program from the attached file and repeat 3. stage. After 3. stage use the "Save" operation in Dbgview for create .log file. Place this file into archive and send to us for investigating.
5. Run the DisableDebug.reg, and restore PDFXCview.exe from backup.
Thanks for your help.

Good point! They work fine in the standalone viewer.
So it's an interaction with firefox 3.6

Given Bhikkhu Pesala's question and my answer, it looks like a plugin interaction with my FF, and yes, unique to me (darn it!!!!)Vasyl-Tracker Dev Team wrote:Hi, Kris.

It's been a long time since I created this FF from scratch, since it's a lot of trouble, but since I so very much want finally to get a working FF PDF plugin!!!!!
(Normally when I do a new system install (I just put up a legal Win7 after running a RC for a year), is to copy the profile which has been backed up by FEBE, so, scientifically, all the errors that I had before, I carry in anew.

Re: pdf exchange viewer menu only lasts 0.5 sec
It appears that gmail.com (which goes to
https://www.google.com/accounts/Service ... mplcache=2
causes my problem. Is no one else using gmail? or is it only me that gmail causes the prob to?
if it is in a tab, I experience the problem only on a PDF . if I close the tab, the problem goes away.
I'm still slowly adding sites back in (I normally have 70-100 sites active in tabs), but would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this.
Thanks!
EDIT - that done, the menue in the pdf now disappears after 4-7 seconds - still seems VERY odd. Who is causing those menus to disappear?
EDIT2: weather underground is another site that causes the menu to dsappear after 5 secs or so
It is looking like whenever a refresh of some sort occurs, PDF exchange viewer loses it. Is this a flash prob for you?
FYI the following do NOT cause a problem: BBC,Reuters, CNN, Intellicast (except when it auto refreshes) ebay, rose is rose comics.com, Dilbert,

Re: pdf exchange viewer menu only lasts 0.5 sec
Okay, it is a JAVA problem <------------------
Specifically, if I uncheck all the boxes in FF / tools / Options / Content , enable javascript advanced I STILL GET THE PROB.
If I uncheck FF / tools / Options / Content , the Enable javasctipt box PROB GOES AWAY, even with gmail and wxunderground present.
Interesting conundrum.
Thoughts?
EDIT: I can't run ebay w/o Java.

I'm afraid, I still cannot reproduce this issue..
May be you have installed some FF-plugins which can be reason for this issue.
You can help us: please run the investigation-task which I sent to you earlier.
Or you can allow me to investigate of this trouble on your machine directly by TeamViewer tool (see it on: http://www.teamviewer.com/index.aspx).
Best
Regards.

Re: pdf exchange viewer menu only lasts 0.5 sec
sheesh - wasted an hour with that one - put a CR LF between your *.reg commands - ie just edit into notepad and put a blank line between commands.
Okay, so the second one took, syseventax.log was then created, size 0, nothing in it
OP
zap registry
reboot
start FF
syseventax immediately created
went to pdf displayed in FF and did right click and watched the menu dissappear almost immediately
sent you this note
closed FF
nothing in syseventax
Next?
(Win7 32bit Home Premium FF 3.6)
(prob occurs on fresh FF install with no extensions and default theme.
(prob does not occur with IE 8.0.7600, so it's a FF plugin problem

Re: pdf exchange viewer menu only lasts 0.5 sec
While waiting for a possible answer, it occurred to me that I could just change the Tools/Options/Applications PDF Xchange to execute PDF Xchange, and that has worked wonderfully. I then played with it filling out a 1040 form and it was child's play - love it!!! For this purpose, it's really great that it has tabs, as I often open a few different PDFs in FF (manuals and such), and this makes it easier.
So, I gotta say that it won't pain me much if no fix is found.....

Hey Kris,
Passed your problem report to Vasyl, he will look at it and reply shortly.
And what you discovered with launching the separate documents into a single multi tab stand alone instance of the viewer we will count to the list of "undocumented features" for the browser plugin
Kind Regards,
Stefan

Re: pdf exchange viewer menu only lasts 0.5 sec
hey, Stefan, while I've got you on the line, I ran into another prob with that FF plugin - when I want to print a PDF, I click on the little printer icon, the printer options immediately pop up, and then it locks for 10 secs or so, then all is normal. Of course the standalone program works perfectly.
It has become abundantly clear to me that making a plugin for FF is incredibly difficult. (having gone through Adobe and foxit, etc, etc, etc there is a large head sized dent in my wall!)
)
However, changing that pointer in FF, since you have tabs, has made PDF Xchange extremely useful - and I don't have to worry about whether the plugin will work correctly when FF comes out with a new update, which they're always doing.
Software - this is a pile of thousands and thousands of programs and dll's (opsys plus apps), and when one stops to think about it it's really remarkable that it works at all!!!

Re: pdf exchange viewer menu only lasts 0.5 sec
Seems like another "conflict in communication" between FF, our Plugin and maybe even your AV software - will have that in mind as well and try to test and reproduce it here.
Thanks for the input, and you are correct - FF is the browser causing us MOST problems - Opera, Chrome and even IE work fine.. but not FF
Best,
Stefan

AV program here is AVG free version.
I uninstalled it but no change.
Reminder, symptom is particularly mouse RIGHT click on pdf or top toolbar - menu which appears, doesn't stay.
Left click menus generally work fine.
