This is the forum for the PDF Viewer, not PDF-XChange. I think this is the one you want for questions about creating PDF files.

2) Also using Opera 10.51 here with the plugin. The hand cursor is the expected behaviour for panning the document while the pointer is over the PDF plugin. If you move the pointer over the browser's toolbars it will change.

A middle mouse button is great for scrolling if you can get one for the thinkpad.

Thanks Bhikku - there's too many forums here....not sure where to actually post - I figured since most of my post has to do with the viewer itself....then better to post in here. :?

On the hand cursor issue, it can be duplicated like this:

open a PDF in Opera...mess with/scroll the document (hand cursor), then move the cursor up to the OPERA TOOLBAR - it turns into the arrow cursor. Now move down to on top of the PDF-XChange Menu - Now slowly move the cursor downwards and at least on my computer the cursor stays as an arrow over the PDF-XChange plugin menu and back to a hand over the PDF body.

NOW...go back the other way. You'll notice it stays as a hand cursor over the PDF-XChange menu whereas going top-down it was an arrow cursor.

I just tested for the same in FireFox and IE - and they seem to be working as per normal (arrow cursor over the PDF XChange browser plugin menu/scroll-bars).

Hi holymoly,

thanks for the kind words, welcome to the fold... ;-) Don't sweat it too much about the right or wrong forum - I agree that there are a lot. Just do your best to place posts in the right one is all we ask. :-)

lets take a look at your comments one at a time shall we?
1) I am using The Bat! email program and this evening opened up a PDF someone attached to an email and it came up blank...clicked it again...blank again....messed around...clicked again and finally the content showed up. Never had a problem with Acrobat v8 with this; I've already uninstalled Acrobat since I'm using PDF-XChange exclusively now.
Any suggestions on what we can to to try and reproduce this? I can install The Bat - but what is your system config? OS, RAM CPU etc all need to be considered to try to reproduce your case. Perhaps you might "Report a Problem" using the Viewer's built in reporting feature - Help --> Report a problem. It can attach a lot of system info that we will find useful. Don't worry - there's nothing personal in there.

Also does this happen with all PDF files or just certain ones? Is it related to size for example - waiting for the file to complete it's download?
2) Using Opera 10.51 Browser - got to some website and pulled up a PDF file within the browser and the "hand cursor" stayed when trying to scroll the PDF (did not change to a normal arrow cursor when over the scroll part). At one point it DID change to a normal cursor but went back to the hand cursor and I couldn't figure out the trick that made it change from a hand to an arrow cursor...although when it did change...it was only for a moment and went back to the hand cursor.
This might be in the way Opera handles the plugin. It uses the same plugin as Firefox. Perhaps one of the dev team will be able to throw more light n this after the Easter break...
3) When in Excel 2007 specifically...may happen in Word 2007 - when using the Office plugin/addin to create a PDF file - the Save AS dialog box pops up (to save the PDF file as...), but is out of view and only noticeable from the Taskbar - in other words, it doesn't pop up ON TOP of Excel (the app) like normal, so I had to click on the taskbar item to bring up the Save As dialog box into view.
This post has been split and this question answered in https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... =39&t=8079
4) At one point when viewing an Excel file and wanting to create a PDF - using the plugin....it did not work. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out what made it do that, but closing Excel, bringing up the file to create a PDF file of using the Excel plugin/addin - it worked fine then. I know...that probably is useless information, but it did happen; will try and figure out how to reproduce it if it happens again.
This post has been split and this question answered in https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... =39&t=8079
5) Lastly....referring to Item 2 - I have noticed that there are some refresh problems as well - meaning when pulling up a PDF file - there is a cut off small section somewhere in the middle of the PDF - simply minimizing the app and restoring it - it comes back to normal and the full PDF file is in view with no cut offs or missing portions in the PDF. I never had this problem with Acrobat v8 on the same computer (Thinkpad T400).
Does this happen with all files or just specific ones? Is it reproducible easily? Again - if I go set up Opera will I see this on all documents or just certain ones? If only certain documents can you send us a sample? (Files must be in an archive to be accepted on this forum .zip 7z etc)

regards

Glad to be here Paul and what a breath of fresh air away from Acrobat

I wish could have a way to reproduce it but haven't figured it out myself - good idea about the Report A Problem button in the Viewer itself...I'll have to remember that next time! I forgot about it just now as the same thing happened....but subsequent PDF's from that and other emails opened up fine. so...I'm stumped!

Again....Unfortunately I can't reproduce it either Paul, but I'm starting to think it's a problem with Opera and MAYBE this laptop since it is a bit strange I'm seeing refresh issues in both the browser and outside the brower. I know....I'm not being of much help here! :( It's just too random for me to nail it down yet....

Thanks for getting back holymoly,

OK well lets leave it alone until you have something more concrete to go on shall we?

remember your avenues of support are:

1. This forum
2. email support to: support@pdf-xchange.com
3. From within the Viewer Help --> report a Problem (PDF-XChange Viewer only - uses your email client)

don't hesitate to get back to me if you need anything further,

regards
