Menus don't stay in focus long enough to read

Post by howiem »

I am using PDF-Xchange Viewer in Firefox 3.6.3 and have used it with earlier versions of Firefox. The main problem I am having is that when I right click on the tool bar to see the customization menu or select another drop down menu, the menus only stay in focus for a fraction of a second, and rarely for more than a second. Once in a while a dropdown menu will focus long enough to work with, but it might take from 3-10 right clicks. It is inconsistent in terms of how long the menus remain in focus, but it happens every time I try it. I tried using the CoralIETab addon and using the IE8 view, but that did not help. However, the right click menu does stay in focus when I use the IE8 browser. But in both cases I am not showing any toolbars (I will check that in the forum as I think someone else mentioned the missing toolbar problem) I don't know the cause, but it would sure be nice to find a fox for this.

In all likelihood, it has to do with your other extensions interacting with the Xchange Viewer. I had that problem, as well. Eventually, I created a new, fresh, Firefox profile and the disappearing menus appeared and stayed open...

I can't give you any more input than that.. but I'm betting if you create a new profile for Firefox, the problem will go away.. You can switch back and forth from one profile to another, without losing all your settings.. You can google for creating new profiles if you are unaware of how to do it..

Cadillakin,

Thanks. I tried disabling all add-ons but that didn't fix things. From past (bad) experiences with FF I think I will skip the profile manager, since my main need was to be able to access the search bar and I can do that now since I found a thread on function keys.

Did that. The program updater says I am using the latest version.

ok - but if you are using an older version - occassionally this can incorrectly read the status of the version installed. This has now been corrected - but does required a full uninstall/restart - re-install to be sure all is updated correctly.

However - if the 'About' Window under help says you have Version 2, build 49 - then all should be up to date.

Thank you. That's what it says. I am fine with things now, as my needs are only read and search, and haven't changed in the past 10 years or so.
