Two questions (and one problem) about scanning

Post by winston »

Yesterday I registered the PDF-XChange Viewer Pro, a fine product that I'm looking forward to using for a variety of purpose.

I've run into a snag, however, in the matter of creating new documents from the scanner. When I select that function from the File menu, a dialog box pops up that shows my scanner. Then, when I press the "Scan" button another dialog box comes up that presents several types of scans, with a "Preview" button, a "Scan" button, a drop-down list of sizes.

When I hit the "Scan" button, my document is scanned but that's it. Nothing appears in the PDF-XChange Viewer Pro window. If I use the "Preview" button, a thumbnail sized image of my document appears.

Question 1: What must I do to be able to scan documents using my spiffy new program?
  • I've made sure I have the latest version (2.0 Build 50)
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
  • Xerox Documate 152 Scanner
  • Scanner works with other programs
Question 2: How do I set standard letter size (8.5x11) as the "default"?

Hello Winston,

After the step where you select your scanner our Viewer Launches (based on your selection) either the generic WIA interface or launches your scanner's drivers. Then in the window you can preview and scan a page as you would normally do.

Question 1: What must I do to be able to scan documents using my spiffy new program?
The confusing part here is that after the first page scan is complete you are back in the same window - and your question arises - what to do now.
The answer is - either place a new sheet and continue scanning or close this window. When you close it our Viewer will create one single PDF file from all pages you scanned - so you can easily create one PDF from e.g. 10 pages instead of having to scan each of them separately and then merge them into one file.

Question 2: How do I set standard letter size (8.5x11) as the "default"?
The size of the pages inside the PDF would be determined by what is passed to our Viewer from your scanner - so you should check the scanner's properties to see whether you can set the default page size for scanning there to be your desired Letter size.
