Hope you can help. I'm using latest free version. I was hit with a virus on XP and MS Security removed several applications ( application hijacking, I suspected). Anyhow, the applications it removed it did not use the uninstaller which would remove any old registry settings.
This in mind I re-installed over the old application using the installer. While this worked for the majority of the applications I attempted to recover but not pdf-x-change viewer. Now whenver I start pdf-xchange the CPU shoots up to %100 percent and system memory usage goes up x3, the selected PDF does not render, and the application does not die gracefully on exit (necessary to kill from taskmanager). I would suspect leftfover registry keys. Is there a way to clean up a failed install/un-install?
Thanks

Re: Virus clean up problem
The viewer uses the following registry entries during startup:
You can delete these keys from the registry without any noticeable problem (for sure you will lose your settings, including the serial number, but it is easy to set them up again as I am sure you would agree ? ).
Also, please make sure that there is the file resource.dat (it should not cause the problem during startup to be honest, but it is necessary for rendering).

Re: Virus clean up problem
Thanks,
With your help indentfiying the registry keys, deleting npPDFXCviewNPPlugin.dll in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins and a clean install of pdf-xchange viewer fixed the problem. I think the installer leaves the dll hanging around, and only replaces it when it is found missing. All works as advertised again.
Thanks,
mhmallory
