Calibrating an Image for for scaling
Is there a way to calibrate an image with a known dimension on the image?

Hi Cape_Inc
have you looked at the knowledge base articles:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowled ... dimensions
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowled ... ment-Tools
Does this address your question?

Paul, Thank you for responding to my question. I did spend considerable time searching the help document for the answer to my question.
The Blue Book offers a program Vu360 that has the calibration functionality. A bar scale or any other line with a labeled dimension on the image can be measured with the line dimension function (line measure) of the program, the length of the line the image represents is substituted for the measured distance to calibrate the drawing.
In fact after dimensioning several lines in a PDF file with the measuring tool in the PDF XChange Viewer I opened the file with Vu360, calibrated the drawing, and the dimensions were updated to reflect the lengths the drawing represented. That is if the drawing indicated a line was 64 feet long, the dimension indicated the line was 64’.
Areas were also updated by an equivalent ratio.
I would like to see the same functionality in the PDF XChange Viewer.
Thank you.

Re: Calibrating an Image for for scaling
Hi again Cape_Inc
you have given us some interesting things to think about here. We are approaching the release of V3 of the Viewer which is designed to support plugins. There are a lot of CAD specific feature requests that we get asked to implement and we always have to balance the desire to provide these additional features with the general usability of the product. We are after all making a PDF Viewer not a CAD application. The plugin model gives us the flexibility to create such features as a plugin that users specifically load thus avoiding the the risk of overwhelming the average user.
Whilst always remaining mindful of is the need to remain 100% compliant with the PDF standard, we may be able to come up with some sort of scaling tool that does a similar thing to what you suggest.
regards
