Custom keybindings lost
Using PDF-XChange Viewer 2.0 (Build 50) under Windows 7 64-bit.
When I customize keyboard shortcuts through the "customize" menu option, they sometimes stick for future sessions, and sometimes do not. I have not been able to figure out a way to make sure the changes are completely permanent. Am I missing something here? Or is this a bug?

Re: Custom keybindings lost
Maybe you had launched two or more copies or the viewer? If yes, last closed instances will override settings.

Re: Custom keybindings lost
I may have figured it out -- it appears that PDF-XChange Viewer maintains different keyboard settings when launched in a browser window versus a free-standing app. Let me see if they stick now that I've configured it in both places.

Thats correct - you can store and use different shortcuts for inline/offline use.
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Re: Custom keybindings lost
Export your customised settings from the edit menu to keep a backup copy. If you spent some time customising PDF-XChange it is a lot of work to lose.

Re: Custom keybindings lost
One follow-up suggestion: I doubt many (any?) users want different keyboard shortcuts whether the viewer is within the browser or outside the browser. It seems to me a more sensible default would be to have the keyboard shortcuts carry over between both.

No — some users may want to avoid conflicts with browser shortcuts, and they will probably want a different toolbar setup.
If you want the same in both, just export from the stand alone viewer and import into the plugin.

...and if you want to be sure that you are using a specific settings file consider the command line switches "/usep" and /importp (pages 17 and 20 of the manual).
They can be added to a desktop or other shortcut for use when launching the Viewer.

I agree. I certainly would want to keep that ability.Bhikkhu Pesala wrote:No — some users may want to avoid conflicts with browser shortcuts, and they will probably want a different toolbar setup.

We are keeping it the way it is - it can not harm when you can have the settings set separately, and if needed they can always be unified for in and outside of browser usage.
