Lots of documents showing up in "landscape" printing mode

Post by prr »

It seems lately that a lot of PDFs I'm printing, get printed in "landscape" mode---that is, with the pages arranged one page per printed page, but being printed so as to occupy only one-half of the page--8x5.5 (half of the 8x11 page). I'm wondering if this is a set feature of a particular PDF file, or a problem with the printer, or what...

Is there any way I can verify that a document has in fact been created to be viewed in "landscape" mode? I don't have another PDF viewer on my computer or else I'd test printing them up in that...

In PDFSChange, a document that printed up in landscape mode, appeared in PDFXChange to be normal. I went to the View>Page Layout, and it was continuous--so viewing is ok, but printing is not.

Any suggestions here?

Same thing was about to happen a few minutes ago. I looked and saw in the Print dialog, that if I checked the "auto-rotate" option, it would turn this landscaped printing set around so that the pages took up (pretty much) the full 8.5 x 11 printing page. Is there a way to make sure that this auto-rotate option is always checked?

Looks like this is toggled on and off--as long as you use the auto-rotate function once, and don't turn it off, you can shut down PDFXChange, open it back up, and a new document will still have this functionality.

This is correct, is it not?

Hello prr,

Yes you are correct. If you activate the check box in front of "Auto Rotate Pages" and print one file it should remember this settings state (turned on or off) and use it for all consecutive printings as long as you do not manually change it again. You can close and open the Viewer many times in between printings and it should still have the setting as you left it last time.

Regards,
Stefan
