Save pdf as text?

I have just started to use PDF-XChange Viewer. I think I remember that in Adobe Reader there is a way to save either selected passages or an entire .pdf file as a text file (.txt). I can't seem to find that capability in PDF-XChange. Have I simply missed it, or does it not exist?

Hi,

If you use the select tool ('T') to select a section of text and copy (right click) then this text can be pasted in your favoured text editor or WP package etc.

Note - if the page has been scanned or is a converted image - then its not a text page - its an image and the text cannot be copied in this manner.

John, thanks VERY much for your prompt and helpful response! You've told me exactly what I needed to know. I guess I was looking for the wrong terms in the Help file, because I couldn't find the information there (though I didn't try all possibilities). But I've just tried what you suggested, and it works perfectly. Thanks too for the reminder about pdfs made from images.

Why isn't there a File > Export > Export to Text option? Seems like it would be an easy thing to add. It would also be neat if there was an option to exclude headers and footers when exporting (although that is probably not so easy...)
