Hello,
I have a quick question. I have a copy of PDF-XChange Viewer Pro. I was using 2.0 b48 but just tried b51. My question is regarding the creation of PDFs from within Xchange Viewer. I know it's main functionality is not creating new PDFs.
I have tried creating a new PDF from a blank document, from a text (.txt) file, and from an image (.tif). In all of the samples that I've tried, the trailer dictionary never gets created. Is the trailer dictionary needed? Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

Re: Trailer dicitionary Question
Hello Hassle2,
You have posted in the end user forums and this is more in the development area but let me answer it where it is.
The Viewer will by default create a PDF with 1.5 specification. From 1.5 the data for the trailer dictionary is contained in the Xref stream, so you can not find it separately.
ver 1.4 files (like the ones created by default by our printing drivers) do have it separate in the end of the file as described in the PDF specification:

Stefan

Please find attached to this topic two files - one created with the default Viewer settings (test123.pdf) and one when I have forced the Viewer to create it with 1.4 spec (test345.pdf)The
startxref line is preceded by the trailer dictionary, consisting of the keyword
trailer followed by a series of key-value pairs enclosed in double angle brackets

Re: Trailer dicitionary Question
Thank you for your response. I was trying to track down an issue and had noticed the missing trailer definition but had totally missed the PDF version.
Thanks!
