I have a lot of documents with annotations made with a different pdf editor. xchange viewer pro v2.0 51 does not properly render these annotations (they are not filled, see attached document). I don't want to get in any "our software is doing right, the annotations are wrong" discussion here. Adobe reader and a couple of other viewers show the annotations filled. Anything you can do for me?
Thanks
Philipp

Open the Properties toolbar and select the highlighting.
You will see that the blend mode is "Multiply". Change it to Normal and the solid yellow fill shows up, but since it is 100% it completely obscures the text. Change the blend mode back to "Multiply" again and the highlight shows as expected.
I leave it to Tracker support to tell you who is following the PDF specification correctly.

Re: Annotations from different pdf editor not properly rendered
Thank you venerable bhikkhu Pesala. I found changing to normal blending and then back to multiply works fine.

Re: Annotations from different pdf editor not properly rendered
Problem isn't in blend mode or anywhere else except dummy Adobe's logic.
Highlight annotation into mentioned PDF file already contains appearance which you can see into the viewer.
Following this clear rule in PDF specification:
1. Section "12.5.2 Annotation Dictionary"
2. On other hand, in section "12.5.6.10 Text Markup Annotations" (highlight annotation has a type text markup) there is note:
Following these rules, PDF-XChange viewer renders highlight annotation in user's file using AP because it is specified and valid. Don't ask me why Adobe doesn't follow their own specifications.

Following this clear rule in PDF specification:
1. Section "12.5.2 Annotation Dictionary"
This allows each viewer to decide use or not already existing appearance.AP -- (Optional; PDF 1.2) An appearance dictionary specifying how the annotation shall be presented visually on the page (see 12.5.5, “Appearance Streams”). Individual annotation handlers may ignore this entry and provide their own appearances.
2. On other hand, in section "12.5.6.10 Text Markup Annotations" (highlight annotation has a type text markup) there is note:
So, if AP exists, it should be used for such types of annotations.The annotation dictionary’s AP entry, if present, shall take precedence over QuadPoints;
Following these rules, PDF-XChange viewer renders highlight annotation in user's file using AP because it is specified and valid. Don't ask me why Adobe doesn't follow their own specifications.
