Convert separate MS Word documents with the bookmarks option in PDF-Xchange (currently using 4.0) add-in
Combine multiple resultant PDF's that have bookmarks into one PDF document with the bookmarks from each of the individual source documents.
PDF-Xchange Pro Ver 4.0 currently allows 'Insert Pages' yet the bookmarks from the source document do not come along with it.
I am used to Acrobat Pro and it does this by putting the source document filename at the top of the tree of that documents' bookmarks.
Such an option is available with our PDF Tools when merging documents.
It is not available in the Viewer - the insertion there is inserting just the pages, and I will speak with the dev guys to see if there are plans to include such bookmark merging functionality in a future build/major release.
Works pretty good. The only improvement I will suggest is that the bookmarks of individual documents are placed under a new bookmark named as the source document filename, which links to the first page.
When combining more than about 3 documents, it can be quite time consuming to adjust this manually.
Our Merge/split tool in the PDF Tools is slightly different, and with it you can combine 3 documents, and merge different pages and make e.g. two new files, each containing some pages from either of the three original documents and in any order of the pages, so it will be rather tricky to add bookmarks with the file headers, or it will have to limit some of the other functionality.
Also making bookmarks is rather easy in our Viewer, and you can then easily drag and drop them in groups quickly.
I will ask the dev guys if there are any plans to introduce such adobe like feature, but can not promise you anything at this point.
