Highlighting doesn't work...

Hiya all
I am a big fan of reading pdfs in PDF-XChange Viewer and then highlighting text with the highlighting tool as I am reading along.
Usually this works, however in one document I am reading at the moment it doesn't. However I can't really figure out the problem.
Any help?
Most other tools seem to work, but highlighting, underlining and striking out do not work. Only for this one document they don't in all other documents they work fine.

Probably the document contains no text. Try select all, or zoom in real close and look to see if its a scanned image.

Without the document its hard to comment Robert, please zip an example and upload.

But if it is the same Robert and document that was sent by email - this file is an image and contains an image of text - not the text itself.

Yes it's an image not a text so that's why it doesn't work.

I think there's room for improvement, the work around is a rather laborious way of highlighting text especially given how easy it is in pdfs with text.

Hello slacknote,

Once you get used to it, "highlighting" on an image is not too tedious (in my opinion)- just select the rectangle tool - mark the area, and set the blending mode.
And this is the only option available, as we do not have the textual data to highlight it as easily as when there is actual text.

I have noticed that a fraction of the files I download are (Secured) and won't allow me to comment highlight etc.

So far I have been printing them to a file as a pdf and then commenting on that file. But I like this text box idea. I tened to overhighlight and this might force me to highlight only the really important stuff.
