I am using windows 7 and Chrome 7 dev on a netbook (1024 x 600 screen) and have the latest 2.0.55 build. I have upgraded to 2GB memory which is really recommended for all netbook owners.
I really like using PDF-XChange on a netbook, especially because it is highly customizable. I can customize keyboard shortcuts to hide/show all kinds of toolbars quickly to maximize the viewing area. I believe also it is the only pdf viewer whose fullscreen mode allows showing/hiding bookmarks/toolbars (using keyboard shortcuts) which is really useful and amazing.
Needless to say, it is amazingly fast and I don't feel any lag using it except with some large documents and complex graphics. I feel slight lag with tab thumbnails (which I can disable it in the right-click menu of a tab) and when scrolling between tab thumbnails using Ctrl+Tab in the latest build (which I could not disable but I use custom shortcuts for Next/Previous Document instead).
However, I have noticed that some dialogs (e.g. Print, Additional Metadata in the Document Properties) are larger than 600 pixels high and are not resizeable. By default the window title is shown above the viewable area making moving the window using the mouse not possible. I have managed to work around this by pressing Alt then Down arrow then Move and then move the window using arrows until I can see what is missing.
Many thanks for the lovely program!

Re: Tips and problems with PDF-XChange on a netbook
Hi trfndr,
we did make changes to the way the print dialogue is rendered in a recent build to take advantage of Windows System fonts. You can adjust them to change th size of the dialogue box: https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowled ... -my-screen
I'm not sure if you could get it down to 600 pixels though.

Changing the font from 9 pt (Auto) to 8pt for both options made the Print dialog fit the 600 pixel space.
The document metadata still does not fit, though.
Thanks Paul!

Hello trfndr,
I have requested the guys dealing with the Viewer UI to have a look here, and they will advise what we could do with the document properties dialogue.
We will post in the topic once we have any further news.
Best,
Stefan

Hello again trfndr,
After speaking with the dev guys, they told me that this issue would be fixed for ver 2.5 of our Viewer.
Best,
Stefan
