error [pdf structure 40]: invalid file format

Hi all.


So i am experiencing this problem more and more now on my domain. it seems that occasionally a pdf will randomly become corrupted somehow. The only commonality is that people are using PDF x Change viewer to manipulate these pdfs.

What happens is this, user recieved PDF by email, user saves PDF to desktop or whatever, user edts PDF in xchange viewer. Goes to save (or save as) and pdf x change vierwer displays the title of this post as an error message. They can not then save the pdf they were working on.

Any idea why this might be happening? i am pushing out the latest version of PDF x change viewer to the clients this morning, Currenlty we are using version 2.0 42.6

But we have been using it for some time and we are just now seeing the issue. Unfortunately i cannot attach the sample PDF as it will not save and is stuck in the editor. I can print it to a new pdf but thats obviously not going to be helpful.

any help on this error appreciated. once again it is occurring randomly for multiple users in the last month or so.

Hi ohidunno,

I would suspect this issue has been resolved since the release your users are currently using, 42.6 is quite old now 10 revisions in fact. So please roll out the new version and see if that eliminates the issue. If not please do get back to us with a copy of an original and a copy of the post modified PDF using the Viewer so our development team can analyze it. But I'm quite confident the version update will solve the issue.
