Default PDF Reader AdobeReader newest

Hi,

I installed your reader as part of PDF-XChange 4 Pro.

First thing: Program Icon is missing:

Second
PDF-Documents are opening in my browser with XChange Viewer although Adobe is set as default viewer and I unchecked opening in browser in XChange Viewer:

Hey Mr. Nice Guy

why you have no application Icon I cannot explain - this is certainly not reproduced here - Can I ask specifically which of the several installation packages we offer you choose to install (file name please).

Regards the in browser association can you try running the Viewer with this switch:

Code: Select all

PDFXCview.exe /makeassoc:web=false
// disables plugins and makes association for PDF-files

It should make our Viewer the default application for files but not for use in the browser. Do note that this is not perfect I am afraid Windows can behave a little erratically in this regard. Try it though.

As an alternative to doing the above there is an option in Adobe Reader : Edit Menu -> Preferences > Internet to set Adobe to view PDFs in Browser - check this is set. This should have the same result as the above switch.

hth

You must include the full path to the exe in your command line - for example:

C:\Program Files\Tracker Software\PDF Viewer\PDFXCview.exe /makeassoc:web=false

and you may also need to wrap in quote marks (") to ensure that Windows will run the command correctly - depending on how you start it.
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.
