Opening .pdf's from Web Sites
I cannot open .pdf files from web pages. I'm using IE 8, if I save the files to my desktop they open fine but from the IE window I get the error screen asking me to search the web for an application to open the file.
What have I not done right?
By the way, running PDF Xchange Viewer Pro Version 2.0
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi,
Please ensure you have the option checked "Display PDF in Browser' which is located under the menu option on your toolbar : 'Edit -> Preferences -> File Associations'

Thanks for the quick reply. That box is not checked but it is dimmed so I cannot check it. Any idea what else is not set correctly?

Honestly I don't know if I'm using the portable version or not. Not sure how to tell. Does the attached screenshot tell you?

Hi Jeff,
I think you would know if you had downloaded the portable version or not - its a pretty concious decision and install process - more likely I think is that when you installed you chose not to install the Browser plug-in we offer - I would suggest you download and install again and step slowly through the downlod options and ensure this option is checked ...
You can download the latest Viewer installer directly here :

I re-installed this morning and made sure to check the box to install the browser plug-in. I think you can see the icon for it in the attached screen shot, inside the red box. Am I right or did I maybe miss something else?

Hi chriskat,
that item is part of the PDF-XChange 4 Standard installation for creating PDF documents. It would not have been installed with the Viewer installer link John sent you. Did you run the installer from that link? I would suggest running the installer as Administrator - right click the installer file and select "Run As Administrator".
It would also be prudent to restart your PC after running the installer then check this URL and see if it opens in the Viewer addin for IE: https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... =35&t=9123
let me know how this works for you.
