Documents Shrink Again
Using HP 309a. Installed Pro build 187. Documents shrink about 15% around the edges. How do I fix.

Hello gbeckerman,
I believe this is the original topic:
https://forum.pdf-xchange.com/ ... =35&t=8180
Please make sure that there is no scaling in your scanner software, as the Viewer should not be shrinking the pages after it receives them from your scanner, or are you using the File -> New document -> From Image files, and forgetting to remove the margins (by default set to 1/2 an inch) ?
Best,
Stefan

Re: Documents Shrink Again
I am using PDFX to scan. Where do I find the "no scaling" option. I can't seem to find it in PDXPro 4.0

Re: Documents Shrink Again
If there is any scaling, you should look in the settings/preferences of your scanner driver/application and the Viewer in this case will accept anything sent to it.
The margin settings I mentioned before are only relevant if you already have the images scanned and are making a new file via File -> New Document -> From Images...
Best,
Stefan

I always PDXexchange ScanDirect>Start>HP Photosmart 309a (Type WIA - also tried Twain)>B&W> etc
But get margins. See attached zip file.

Re: Documents Shrink Again
Hello gbeckerman,
You are getting those margins because your scanner is making Ansi A pages (8.5x11.00 inches or 215.9x279.4mm) - which are slightly wider and slightly shorter than an A4 page (210x297mm).
Best,
Stefan

Re: Documents Shrink Again
I use PDFX-Change Viewer to scan pages to a pdf file. On a thread here in the forum a suggestion was made to use File > New Document > From Image File instead of > From Scanner. This opens up a dialog box where the paper size can be directly selected using the Options button. Then you use the Import button to scan the document in. Don't know if you could scan that way, it worked for me.

Re: Documents Shrink Again
Arnold.
Thanks. Not perfect because it leaves a small margin at the bottom instead of 1" margins all around but I will work until I work out the issue with HP. I have been in contact with HP and they have been helpful in getting the whole margin issue resolved. If I go to the underlying HP scan program it works fine but if I use the higher level User interface, I get the margins. I do not think this is a Tracker issue.
Thanks again.

Re: Documents Shrink Again
Hi gbeckerman and Arnold,
Thanks for all the tips and suggestions, and yes it does seem that the intermediate software is causing the problem - but you should be able to select another option when presented with the "Available scanners" (e.g. WIA instead of Twain), also there should be a setting to change the scan size from AnsiA to A4.
Best,
Stefan

Re: Documents Shrink Again
Thanks to all. After chats with the HP Tech support, we reinstalled the HP software and it seemed to have solved the problem. No problem with the Tracker software. Over and out.
