BUG: Flipped PNG Image Transparency Broken on Zoom

Post by Bhikkhu Pesala »

The attached PDF file includes an image at the top of page 4 (printed page 16 of the booklet), that looks fine at normal zoom levels. However, the transparency of the image is lost on zooming in — the white rectangular border of the image overlays the text that wraps around the image outline.

This bug does not affect Foxit Reader, nor Adobe Reader 9.32.

The PNG image used has 4 colours, and was flipped in my DTP program (PagePlus X5) before publishing to PDF. If I flip the image in IrfanView first before placing it and then publish to PDF, the bug does not show up.

So, though this is not something that is likely to show up in many PDF files, I thought you would like to know about it.
