New User Questions

Post by wnpaul »

Having used several non-Adobe PDF editing tools costing under EUR 100 my first impression of PDF-XChange Pro is very positive.

A couple of questions popped up:

1. I can create stamps with a transparent background by importing a transparent PNG or GIF; however, that tends to look rather pixelated and crude. If I create a stamp from a PDF it tends to scale much better and looks more professional, however I have not figured out whether there is a way to set its background to transparent, as well. Can it be done?

2. How can I create dynamic stamps? I realize you've announced this for version 3, but do you have any recommendation for people on a budget?

3. Does anyone here on the forum have any experience running PDF-XChange Pro on a Mac under Wine? I have seen the positive reports of it running under Wine in Linux, but was wondering about Mac OS X.

4. Is there a tips-and-tricks document somewhere?

1. Custom stamps created from PDF images will be transparent if they are created from Vector images.
2. I think you will have wait until version 3 is released
3. Try a search of the forum for "Wine"
4. See my review page for some tips to get you started. Press F1 for help to read the manual.

Thanks for the help Bhikkhu,

Also on 2) please have a look at this KB article:

So if you already have some such stamps from another application - you can use those.

Best,
Stefan
