Unsearchable PDF files

Hi,

I looked at the following topic, but it didn't seem to answer my question:

When using the newest PDF-XChange 4.0 Lite virtual printer, no matter the source (webpages, other documents, etc), the resulting PDF file looks fine, but is not searchable. That makes the new PDF file of limited value. While I have not tried the full range of source files to print from, my results so far have been the same.

1) Can you explain why this happens?

2) Is it possible to fix or do I need to find different virtual printer software (not PDF-XChange 4.0 Lite)?

Hello petomiro,

Please go to the settings for the Lite printing driver, and under Miscellaneous try to turn on the "Embed extended Font/Character Info"

You have not specified in what language the files you are printing are, but if they are some east asian files you will need this setting turned on.

I just did a few tests on my machine (XP SP3) with a couple builds of the Lite driver using an older (186) and the latest (191) builds, and could not reproduce what you explain with English text.
