Feature Request: Reverse Clouds / Hold Clouds

Hi,

Found a similar request in the forums from back in 2011, but not sure the support team quite understood what was requested.

It is standard in the construction industries of a number of countries to "reverse cloud" items that are incomplete, on hold, or under review, and that are excluded from approval the rest of a drawing may have as use for tender or construction. Most CAD and BIM applications allow this reverse clouding, as opposed to normal clouding for revisions. Beyond holds, there are also times when you'd want to use a reverse cloud to create "donut" shaped revisions.

However, PDF-Xchange does not have this line type option, only the normal cloud line type.

Given this is an industry standard practice used in reviewing and markup of drawings, can this new line type be added? - should be relatively easy to do, given a cloud line type already exists and would just need to be flipped or mirrored

thanks for the post and excellent explanation of the use case.

Unfortunately the styles available are dictated by the ISO in the PDF specifications I believe, and if we did this it would break compliance. Let me check on that and get back to you.

While Paul is working with the dev team, there is a way that you can sort of accomplish this, by tricking the system a little bit. Simply draw a connecting line, as part of the outer edge shape to include the inner shape. This will have the effect of "inverting" the coulds, like so:

It is not the prettiest solution, but it does have the advantage that both sections are connected, so they will move as one, instead of needing to select two objects before moving to make fine adjustments. You can even get rid of the connecting line by using the same color for your fill and edges:
