How do I activate the Typewriter.

Post by glddt »

Hi
I can not activate the Typewriter to fill out a form
I have tried all information on it that I could find:
ctrl-E and the menu icon but I still can't type text into my document.
Is it because I am using the FREE version?
The documentation doesn't say the FREE version has this disabled?
Could someone give me a step by step guide please?
Kind regards,
glddt

I am using the free version and I have no problem using the typewriter. I just tried it. Just click on typewriter and click on PDF where you want and start typing.

Maybe the PDF file is protected and does not allow changes to be made? Check Document Properties, security on the file menu.

mike1234,
Yes that is how it is supposed to work but not for me.

Bhikkhu Pesala,
I thought this application typed over protected PDF's, that is why I decided to try it out. I understand this is what it claims in the features list.

Kind regards,

You misunderstood. What it says is:
Add Comments and Annotations to any PDF file (subject to security settings) - unlike the Adobe Viewer which requires the PDF creation tool to be 'certified' by Adobe !
If the security settings do not permit any changes to be made, then PDF-XChange should respect that. It should not allow anyone to bypass the security set by the PDF file's author.

Bhikkhu is correct.

We do not support the abuse of the authors designated security/use restrictions - if the Author has set the PDF to not allow modifications/markup's etc - then you will not be allowed to do this I am afraid.
If posting files to this forum - you must archive the files to a ZIP, RAR or 7z file or they will not be uploaded - thank you.

Thanks everyone for your help.
I understand how it all works now it is a excellent piece of software.
I have used another method to get around my little problem.
I saved the form as an image and typed over it using a free editor.
Kind regards,
