Hotkeys / Shortcuts for Stamps using numbers (dynamically loaded)
Hi there,
shortcuts for stamps have been suggested before, and dismissed (viewtopic.php?p=102461#p102461) on the grounds that stamps are dynamically loaded.
This is actually one of the biggest reasons I still use Bluebeam Rev 20 Extreme for work, (in addition to PDF XChange), because Bluebeam has a decent implementation of hotkeys for what they call "tools" (equivalent of stamps).
There is one toolbox that is numbered, and you can press a sequence of numbers to select that tool. For example, I have 2000 tools (most of them placeholders), and can type "100" and select a certain stamp or "5" or "304" or whatever. I literally have thousands of slots I can put anything I want in. And these tools are also dynamically loaded from file. Can we see an implementation like this on PDF-XChange? It's the biggest reason I only use PDF XChange for editing pdf elements only, and not markups (which Bluebeam is superior in the opposite, better at markups, worse at editing PDF elements)
An even better implementation would be each stamp collection can be assigned a number (any number). And you type that, prior to whatever number of the stamp in that collection.
Mockup:
Stamp collections are assigned numbers, but you can change them, and order them how you like (also another feature request).
In the mockup, the "Test Stamp" would have the hotkey "502" (when you're not typing in a textbox or something).

Re: Hotkeys / Shortcuts for Stamps using numbers (dynamically loaded) SOLVED
Hello TrivialEngineer,
Thanks for the suggestion. I will pass it on to our devs, however I can't make any promises.
In the Editor you can assign custom shortcuts to specific tools (you can have separate shortcuts for e.g. "Purple Oval" and "Yellow Oval", as explained here:
https://www.pdf-xchange.com/knowledgeba ... nge-Editor
p.s. Your suggestion was accepted, and I've made a feature request ticket in our internal system:
#7198: FR: Editor - Hotkeys / Shortcuts for Stamps using numbers (dynamically loaded)
We will keep this topic updated with any news from the ticket.
Kind regards,
Stefan

Hi there,
any update on this?
Learning that Bluebeam is being removed as default at our company, so really hope this feature will be available soon!
Kind regards,
David.

Hello David,
I've just asked for an update in the ticket, however I am afraid that for now all I can see is that the ticket has been opened and assigned to a developer, but I do not have any specific time frame for now, sorry!
Kind regards,
Stefan

Hello TrivialEngineer,
The ticket is still open and has not been rejected - so, yes, it is still planned. However it is a lower priority feature request, so I can not say when it might actually be implemented at this moment in time.
Kind regards,
Stefan

Re: Hotkeys / Shortcuts for Stamps using numbers (dynamically loaded)
Greetings,
I came up with a avenue to achieve this end; if every annotation is saved as a separate file: a button/command can be created to insert a given markup (of which can be mapped to a keypress).
However, the setup/management would be quick demanding; of which I would open to practical ways as to manage such an implementation.
May this be of Good Help;

Hello ⚜ Kenny Lemens, P.E. ᵂᴵ,
Thanks for your suggestion. Indeed managing such a collection might quickly become quite a task!
I can not come up with any practical advise or recommendation at this time, but I hope that the ticket is sorted our quicker so that your solution does not need to be implemented in the first place.
Kind regards,
Stefan
