How to stop the playback of audio content added with the Sound Tool in the middle of playback?

Post by rakunavi »

Hello all,

The Sound Tool in the Comment tab allows you to add audio content to your document. However, once you double-click on the sound icon to play it, the application will stop accepting all actions until it finishes playing. Everything, really. So the only way to stop playback in the middle is to force the PDFXEdit.exe process to stop from the Task Manager.

Also, if you double-click the icon more than once because it does not stop, the double-click will be processed after the current sound has finished playing, so that the sound will eventually continue to play continuously for the number of times you double-clicked.

The current implementation seems to assume only a few seconds of sound playback at most. However, the ISO 32000-1:2008 standard does not limit the length of sound, so at least there should be a feature to cancel playback in the middle, as in Acrobat. It would be great if there were extensive playback controls like those provided for the read-aloud feature.

Hoping that the above information will be of some help to you.
Thank you so much for your continued support.

Best regards,
rakunavi

Hello Willy, thank you for your prompt advice.

I should have searched the forum a little more carefully. The same thing was mentioned in the following topic.

Best regards,

Thanks for that @rakunavi

Let us hope we will not have to wait another nine years for a solution.

Hello, All,

So far it does not look like any progress has been made in this direction. I have touched base with the Dev team regarding this, and the ticket (RT#3724) that was mentioned in the other thread.

Once I hear back from them I will let you all know.

Kind regards,
