Firefox 18.0.1 claims PDF-Xchange is out of date

Post by dlotton »

After a recent Firefox update, Firefox claims PDF-Xchange Viewer is out of date. Every time I click a link for a PDF file I get a message where the PDF Viewer plugin should be located that says, 'the plugin is vulnerable and should be updated.'

I have the latest released PDF-Xchange viewer.

In the Firefox 18.0.1 location bar I get a red Lego block with a minus sign (-). Clicking on that icon produces a pop-up with the following...

Some plugins have been disabled for your safety.
PDF-Xchange Viewer [Activate] <------------this is a button
Outdated Version! Check for updates <--- this is a link
[Activate All Plugins] <---------------------- this is a button/dropdown menu

The 'check for updates' link just takes you to the Firefox plug-ins web site.

Under the 'Activate All Plugins' button/dropdown menu I have an option to 'Always activate the plugin for this site', but this is becoming tedious.

Firefox: 18.0.1
PDF-Xchange: 2.5.208.0 (22 Jan 2013)

Hello dlotton,

Have you tried reinstalling our Viewer after the update to FireFox?

Best,
Stefan

Yes, in fact, the viewer I originally had was a bit older, so I downloaded and installed the latest Viewer after I got this the first time.

The problem persists after upgrading to the latest Viewer (after the Firefox upgrade).

Hello dlotton,

Very strange,

FireFox is not my daily browser, so I just updated it a few minutes ago (I had v 17), and after the update the only warning I get in the Add-ons section is for the Java engine. Please see the attached file.

I am using Win 7 X64 and the only available 32 bit version of FF.
Could you please share some more information about your configuration?

Best,
Stefan

Ahhh... FOooey!

Somehow a plugin for Adobe was reactivated when the Firefox update happened. Not sure why that happened. Wasn't able to determine that from the messages I was getting.

Crisis averted. Carry on....

(Thanks for your time :D )

Hi Dlotton,

Thanks for letting us know! Glad to hear it's solved too :)

Stefan is off work now, but I'll pass your thanks along to him.
