Hello, EricM
A very important item to note here is that MS Edge is not a fully featured PDF software, it does have its own slew of errors, and it does not fully understand the Specification. This means that if it and other "partial solutions" to PDF handling are the only software wherein you see an issue, it is very likely the problem is on their end, not ours. (See below about "sporadic" issues)
Do you see the same issue in other full-fledged PDF software, such as Adobe, or Foxit? If their appearance is identical to ours, and all of them are
consistent (the issue is NOT exclusive to certain devices), than it is much more likely an error with the document data itself. Often the font data embedded into the file could be damaged causing issues like this. Many partial solutions cannot use all types of embedded fonts, and will choose to substitute a locally available font, giving a more "standard" appearance. Most full featured editors will choose to the the embedded font, if it exists.
- If the issue is only present in the partial handlers like PDF apps but not in dedicated PDF applications, I am afraid that it is unlikely we will be able to "fix" this issue, beyond flagging it as a type of content error, and presenting a banner when opening such files (That also assumes it is an error which is detectable. Some issues are obscure enough that such "detection" isn't often reliably possible, cross-referencing a font that isn't available locally, would be one of them..)
If the issue is sporadic, and like OP in this thread, it looks proper in our software on some users devices, but appears incorrectly on others, it will be very important to know that particular facet of the issue for our investigation, as well as see a copy of the file, as requested below. In that case, I will also want to know about any differences between our software on those two devices. Perhaps one of them is running an older build? Maybe one device has the proper version of the used font installed?
In any case, the more samples we have the better. Can I ask you to please email us with the same as we requested before:
- Specifically, It would be best to have a copy of the PDF document, screenshots of how it looks on your end, in both our software, and a software where you believe it looks "correct".
If the file contains sensitive data, please email those files to
Support@PDF-Xchange.com and include a link to this forum post, so we can take a look.
Kind regards,
